Lowell
loses another late lead after Northview's surge
GRAND
RAPIDS -- Northview coach Mike Kapustka was hoping
history would repeat itself. With two minutes remaining
and the Wildcats tied in Friday's O-K White game against
Lowell, Kapustka hoped Lowell would be vicitm of losing

Red Arrows
fall to Knights, 53-44
GRAND RAPIDS --
Lowell fell to 4-6 in the OK White and 6-9
over-all with a 44-53 loss to Kenowa Hills on
Friday. Ryan Lane led
Lowell with 11 points, while senior Mike Koster
added eight points and seven rebounds. Mike Sutton scored
18 points and Doug Darden had 11 to lead host
Kenowa Hills, which built a 27-20 halftime lead.
Kyler King contributed a game-high 14 rebounds.

Lowell
wins 4th straight; defeats Sparta 68-41
LOWELL -- The Red
Arrows extended their winning streak to four games
on Friday night with a 68-41 win over
Sparta. Lowell improved to 4-4 in the OK
White and 6-7 over-all. Josh Hettinga led
the Red Arrows in scoring with 18 points.
Hettinga hit four of Lowell's five three point
field goals in the game. Also leading Lowell
in scoring were Ryan Lane with 16 and Brad Shea
with 13.

Lowell
falls in overtime to Unity Christian
LOWELL -- Endurance
-- and two critical 3-pointers in the final two
minutes of the fourth quarter -- gave Unity
Christian a 65-59 overtime victory Friday at
Lowell. The Crusaders
trailed by five, 49-44, with less than two minutes
remaining in regulation but consecutive 3-pointers
by seniors Drew VanderWal and Jared Engelsman gave
Unity the lead in less than 40 seconds. Full

Yellow Jackets
defeat Red Arrows 50-47
GREENVILLE --
Lowell fell to 2-3 in the conference and 2-5 overall
with a 47-50 loss to Greenville on Friday. Senior
Mike Koster led the Red Arrows with 16 points.
Josh Hettinga added 14 for Lowell including four three
point field goals. Jake
Waldorf scored 19 points for Greenville, which held off
Lowell's fourth-quarter comeback. Greenville led
24-16 at the half and were up ten points heading in to
the fourth-quarter. Lowell made a run in the
fourth out scoring Greenville 21-14.

Lowell falls
to Northview, 47-64
LOWELL -- Lowell
fell to 2-2 in the conference and 2-4 overall with a
47-64 loss to Northview on Tuesday. Brad Shea led
the Red Arrows with 18 points. Derek
Brooks led the Wildcats with 18 points. While Jordon
Vander Veen added 10. Northview hit eight three pointer
in the game and led 24-18 at the half.

Hettinga leads Lowell
past Kenowa Hills
LOWELL -- The Red
Arrows improved to 2-1 in the OK White and 2-3
overall with a 65-49 victory over Kenowa Hills. Josh Hettinga had
18 points and Kevin Gillman added 11 for Lowell,
which built a 32-18 halftime lead. Hettinga
scored most of his points from the free-throw
line, where he was 10-13. Hettinga
also added two 3-pointers. Mike Sutton led
winless Kenowa Hills with 21 points. Sutton
was 8-of-13 from the free-throw line. A.J. Schmidt
added 10 points for the Knights.

Grady
drives EGR past Lowell
EAST GRAND RAPIDS
-- Kelvin Grady saw an opening. It was not a large
opening, but it was big enough. East Grand Rapids'
sophomore point guard, Grady drove through that
opening, got off a soft layup with seven seconds
left to play and gave East Grand Rapids a 59-57
O-K White win over visiting Lowell. Full

SPARTA -- Mike
Koster and Kevin Gillman scored 17 and 14 points,
respectively, in the Red Arrows' win over the
Spartans. Jeffrey Orlowski and Seth Bouwhuis had
11 points each for Sparta.The Red Arrows
earned their first victory of the season to
improve to 1-3 over-all and 1-0 in the OK White. Kevin Gillman hit
four of Lowell's six three point field goals in
the game. Also scoring for
Lowell were Shane Stokes 9, Kyler Krieg 2, Josh
Hettinga 5, Ben Hanson 2, Ryan Converse 3, Andrew
Happie 2, Brad Shea 8, David VanKeulen 2, Mike

Central escapes upset bid from Lowell
LOWELL -- It was a
miniscule stretch of the fourth quarter, but Mark
and Luke Lettinga did enough in those 17 seconds
to give Forest Hills Central an edge Friday night.
During that time,
the Rangers' identical twin three-year starters
combined for four points, a steal and an offensive
rebound, giving their team an eight-point lead. Full

falls to Lakewood in season opener
LAKEWOOD -- Lakewood scored 57 second half points
to defeat Lowell 83-55. Leading the way for
the Vikings was Corey Thelen with 23 points. The Red Arrows led
at halftime 29-26 but were outscored 10-30 in the
third quarter. Leading the way in
scoring for Lowell were Shane Stokes and Kevin
Gillman with 6 points, Frank Mulder and Drew
Happie with 5 points each. Tyler Beglin hit
four of Lakewood's eight three point field goals
in the win and finished with 21 points.

LOWELL -- Jeff McDonald has organized a basketball
clinic every autumn since he was named the varsity
coach at Lowell High School. He has added a new
